Approximately, Tanzania lies on the East African coast between 1° and 11°45' south, and 29°20' and 40°35' east. It is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, and Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the south. Tanzania (Area: 945,087 sq km) is the largest of the East African nations, and it possesses a geography as mythic as it is spectacular.The total population is estimated&nbsp around 40 million, while the population of Dar es Salaam as a business city is estimated at 2.5 million.

In the northeast of Tanzania is a mountainous region that includes the snow-capped majesty Mount Kilimanjaro (19,340 ft./5,895 m) and Mt. Meru (14,979 ft/4,566 m), the latter of which is the highest point in Africa and possibly the most breathtaking mountain imaginable.


 
To the west of these peaks is Serengeti National Park, which has the greatest concentration of migratory game animals in the world (200,000 zebra, for example) As for the wildlife – well, Tanzania is a singularly compelling safari destination. In the south, you have the Selous, the world’s largest game reserve. In the north, the sweeping plains of the Serengeti are justifiably the most famous park in Africa, while nearby Ngorongoro Crater is perhaps the most scenically dramatic
